Through my blog I will share with you nutritional insight, recipes, and more. For my first post I want to share a smoothie recipe loved by kids and adults alike. I’m a mom of two kids ages 10 and 12 and feeding my kids healthy foods is a big goal of mine. However kids have a mind of their own and they see the marketing of junk foods everywhere which only makes my job harder. I also try to avoid packaged and processed foods as much as possible. I found that this smoothie is like a treat but it’s also healthy. My kids ask for it on a regular basis. Even if they are craving something sweet they will ask for this! It has no added sugar just pure whole ingredients. It’s great after school, before or after sports, really anytime…Last year my daughter wanted this EVERY DAY after school and actually started making it for herself and still does today. And it doesn’t stop at kids, it’s a great smoothie for adults too. All you need is 5 ingredients and a blender. Here is the recipe…
- 1 banana
- 1 cup of milk (I use grass-fed organic milk but you can use almond milk if you are looking for a dairy-free smoothie)
- 1 level Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 heaping Tbsp almond butter
- 8 ice cubes
Blend all the ingredients in the blender. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy! You can double or triple the recipe depending on the number of servings you would like. Let me know what you think!
